Black Stars deputy Coach Maxwell Konadu says the problem of low patronage in the First Capital Plus Premier League is not peculiar to Ghana.

“It’s an African problem and not only in Ghana. I do not know how we are going to get the fans back but it’s not only in Ghana,” Konadu told Citi-Sports

The Nyantakyi led Administration has come under heavy criticism for the lack of interest in the local league with many questioning his commitment towards the development of the game.

The final game of the season between Great Olympics and AshGold was free to the public but turnout was a spectacular failure.

“Even in Egypt, South Africa and elsewhere it’s not like before but it is better elsewhere than here.”

“So we have to put our resources together and ensure that the stadia is filled with the supporters.”

The debate about the true state of the Ghana league continues to divide opinion with the GFA maintaining the league is one of the best on the continent even though fans continue to stay away from the various stadia.

Some school of thought believe the English Premier League and other European leagues have taken the shine off the Ghana League.

The Ghana Football Association is even toying with the idea of securing a parliamentary injunction that will stop the airing of foreign league games on national television.

  1. African fans, and especially the African elite, are simply foolish. We are not the poorest people in the world for nothing. We all abandon our leagues to support the EPL and La Liga and we are too stupid to see how this makes us poorer, while the Europeans are laughing to the bank.
