Ghana striker Mahatma Otoo has begun rehabilitation in the gym after he was told he requires two-three weeks to regain full fitness from a thigh injury.

The 23-year-old had to be replaced in Ghana’s squad for friendly matches against Senegal and Mali due to the injury.

Otoo’s fears were however allayed following thorough examination conducted on the injury.

Doctors say the Ghana international will be out for an estimated two-three weeks to fully recover from a stretched muscle in his right thigh.

The former Hearts of Oak captain has already begun work in the gym to strengthen the injured muscle.

Otoo’s work in the gym marks the commencement of a drawn rehabilitation program recommended by doctors following the thorough medical examination.

The striker was hit with the injury setback just when he was set to be handed precious game time in the Black Stars for this month’s friendlies against Senegal and Mali especially in the absence of first choice striker Asamoah Gyan who is also out with injury.

Otoo played just a few minutes of Ghana’s campaign at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where the Black Stars finished second to Cote d’Ivoire in Equatorial Guinea.
