Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has been left out of Juventus’ squad that will travel to Switzerland on Friday night to play Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season friendly.

The 26-year-old has been left behind at the club’s Vinovo training facility where he is to undergo an individual fitness regime designed to restore him to peak condition.

There remain some concerns over Asamoah’s fitness despite training with the side in recent weeks.

The Ghana international needed surgery last November to fix a knee problem and is since yet to play even a friendly match for the Italian champions.

His exclusion from the 26-man squad that will travel to Zurich on Friday night for a friendly match against Dortmund shows clearly the midfielder is not quite ready to make a full return.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been reported to be interested in signing the Ghanaian but Juventus are not keen to sell.

Massimiliano Allegri will receive a report on the progress of Asamoah on the team’s return from Switzerland before deciding on whether he can fully join the side’s pre-season activities.
