Ghana international attacker Jordan Ayew lost his automatic starting role at Aston Villa as he watched the entire proceedings of Villa’s 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace from the bench.

Jordan, 23, had started both of Villa’s opening games since the opening of day of the English Premier League but lost his place to Benin international Rudy Gestede who replaced him in the squad.

English international forward Gabriel Agbonlahor who started had reportedly claimed he felt comfortable partnering with Gestede and Villa boss Tim Sherwood partnered the pair at the Selhurst Park.

Palace, who had an earlier goal disallowed when James McArthur was adjudged offside, went ahead when Scott Dann headed in Jason Puncheon’s corner.

Villa levelled when Eagles defender Pape Souare deflected the ball into his own net after Adama Traore’s run.

But Sako, who had twice been denied by keeper Brad Guzan, netted a fine winner after Jordan Amavi had lost the ball.

  1. Now that Aston Villa has lost their second game without Jordan Ayew, the coach will now come back to his senses that they are better with Ayew in the squad than without. It’s not always that you have to expect your striker to score. His general work rate and contribution should always be considered before you drop a player. So on that basis, Tim Sherwood was wrong to drop Jordan Ayew. You see they lost against Crystal Palace who are one of the weakest teams in the premier league? Perhaps Ayew would have gotten his first goal for Villa if he was selected.

yes i believe so too, i mean you are a goal down and u bring in adama traore instead of jo ayew? what a joke, he even benched scott sinclair, ayew is better in the middle, he should be the front man not the wing man.

now everybody knows the problem is not ayew, but the middle men are not feeding the strikers.

Assisi ask again, now that Aston Villa has lost their second game without Jordan Ayew, who is the next player to drop? Tim Sherwood?
