WORLD CUP: Eberechi Eze to be part of Southgate Initial 55 man List

Crystal Palace midfielder of Nigerian descent, Eberechi Eze, will be part of the players in Gareth Southgate’s initial World Cup list.

Outgoing President of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick held talks with Eze when he was with Queens Park Rangers in 2019 about the possibility of him playing for the Super Eagles instead of the Three Lions.

Pinnick was also reported to have held discussions with Eberechi’s father to help influence the decision of his son’s international career too.

But the midfielder requested to be given time to focus on his club career, while the decision to play for Nigeria will be made later.

However, the Three Lions coach will name a massive group of 55 players that will be available for selection for the tournament in Qatar this November and December.

The squad will eventually be trimmed to 26, which means many players will miss out.

Per the Daily Mail, Eze will get into the initial group, after his impressive displays with Palace so far this season.

His chances of going to Qatar depend on his form between now and November, along with the health of other attackers who are in the squad.
