Former Nigeria Forward and Ambassador of Sports, Daniel Amokachi has tasked the stake holders of football in Nigeria to sheath their swords and unite to take the sport to a greater level.
Amokachi counselled that the present NFF statute doesn’t allow for a level playing ground in future elections.
He however, said there is no need to fight, but all hands should be on deck, supporting the administration to do a good job at the end of the day.
The former Club Brugge forward, also warned that it would be in the best interest of the new administration to address the issues with the current statutes as soon as possible, to avoid future problems as it posed a threat to the just concluded election.
‘It would take a long process before a new order is completed, and to avoid a last minute struggle between the board and the players Union, it would be advisable to start dialogue right away as the only way to achieve a result is to dialogue properly with all parties involved.’
On why he did not contest in the election, Daniel Amokachi revealed that it would not make any sense to contest against Aisha Falode, who was the only female contestant from his zone and being an advocate of inclusion, ‘it was only logical that I let go, although, it is true a form was bought on my behalf.’
