An ever-present throughout the camp, Leo the Lion has been a source of great entertainment for the England team at their base in Chantilly.

Since England’s Euro 2016 campaign kicked off against Russia, defenders John Stones and Chris Smalling have been seen in possession of the cuddly toy.

Meanwhile, following England’s victory over Wales, captain Wayne Rooney, who is believed to be on the committee, became the latest star to be spotted clutching Leo.

The child’s play does have come with consequences however, with the committee enforcing a number of punishments should the mascot be damaged or goes missing.

The lion has been said to have kept morale high within the camp, with a number of players going to great lengths to ‘kidnap’ Leo.
