Phil Neville Faults Wenger For Showing His Weakness By Dropping Iwobi Against Man United

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville has faulted Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger over his decision to leave out 20 year old forward Alex Iwobi in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Arsenal salvaged a point against Manchester United with a late equaliser from their first shot on target, but Neville believed they could have gotten more from the game, if Wenger had stuck with Iwobi in his starting line up.

Wenger sacrificed the Nigerian for Aaron Ramsey and Neville believed it’s a sign of weakness on the part of the manager, which had an overall impact on how Arsenal played in the game.

” I believed Manchester United would have set up their team with Iwobi in mind, Wenger lost a trick by dropping him for Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal lacked balance due to Ramsey’s position on the left. Iwobi would have given them balance” He said.

” The axing of Iwobi for Ramsey showed Wenger’s weakness in big games. He went for experience, no doubt but also wanted to contain Manchester United as Ramsey is more defensive minded than Iwobi. Arsenal should be set up to trouble teams and not contain them”.
