W/Cup Qualifier: Rohr Wants To Begin Plans Against Cameroon Now

Rohr

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, said yesterday that both administrative and technical preparations to beat Cameroun in the next Russia 2018 World Cup qualification match must start now.

National Mirror was informed that a relaxed and jovial Rohr was at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Secretariat to meet with NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, who was in company with 2nd Vice President/LMC Chairman, Shehu Dikko; Executive Committee member, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh; General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi and members of management, including Acting Director of Competitions, Bola Oyeyode,  and Acting Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire.

“We must prepare very hard for Cameroun, even though that is still nine months away. The Indomitable Lions are a good team and we must be at our best,” Rohr told the NFF bigwigs.

The Franco-German coach stated that positive attitude, discipline, dedication, good team spirit and mental strength should get the credit for the Super Eagles recent fascinating wins against the Chipolopolo of Zambia and Desert Foxes of Algeria.

“A positive attitude has helped us thus far, and I also want to commend the players for their discipline and dedication, and very good spirit in camp. They have been excellent.

“The mental strength is also there, because if you have to survive in such a difficult group, you need very good mental strength and focus. We have shown in the first two matches that we have the personnel and the good spirit to go all the way,” Rohr said, as he moved round the Glass House in company of his Nigerian assistant, Coach Salisu Yusuf.

Meanwhile, Coach Rohr has revealed that he will be at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Gabon to spy on World Cup rivals, Indomitable Lions of Cameroun and Algeria.

While Nigeria and Zambia failed to qualify for 2017 AFCON, Cameroun and Algeria will be on parade.

“I will be in Gabon to look at Cameroun and Algeria again,” Rohr told our sports team. For now, the Franco-German tactician is the darling of  the NFF and Nigerian ball fans after winning all his first three matches, two of which were in the so-called Group of Death in Africa’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series.
