“?Watford are confident are sealing a loan deal for Fiorentina striker Mauro Zarate, according to “?reports.
The 29-year-old former West Ham striker has fallen down the pecking order at Fiorentina, prompting speculation over a move away from Florence.
The Hornets are planning on signing Zarate on a loan deal until the end of the season, when a permanent switch would become available.
The Argentine forward scored seven goals in 29 appearances during his time in East-London and Watford boss Walter Mazzarri is keen on bringing him in to add firepower to their struggling attack.
Watford have also signed Tom Cleverley on loan from Everton, proving that the board have faith in Mazzarri despite a slow start to the season.

The former Napoli boss has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, partly due to the language barrier and also down to a huge injury-list.
Watford occupy 14th after 21 games this season and they will be hoping to reverse their poor form with a result as they face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Zarate has made just one start in all competitions so far this season, as well as seven appearances for the bench, in which he has notched four goals.
