Crystal Palace and Wales midfielder Joe Ledley could return from a broken leg to play in Wales’ first Euro 2016 fixture against Slovakia, according to national-team manager Chris Coleman.

The 29-year old fractured his fibula against Stoke at the start of May, but miraculously has already returned to training, with Coleman admittedly stunned at his progress.

His unprecedented return to fitness warranted a place in Chris Coleman’s 23-man squad for Euro 2016, where he was selected alongside Leicester City’s Andy King and West Ham’s James Collins.

Great to see Ledley make the Wales squad ???? can’t Wait for June 11th #comeonwales

Speaking to reporters after announcing his 23-man squad, Coleman said:

“?”He looks very good, he trained on the grass albeit with the medical team, and his intent is incredible.

“Is he available for Slovakia or that second game? We will assess. It is hard to say he will be ready at this time.

“What we do know with this type of injury is he is ahead of the curve. He is in great shape, that’s a credit to Joe. We think he’s got a good chance of that first game. We will see how he progresses.”

After their opening game against Slovakia Wales are set to play Roy Hodgson’s England before a final group-round tie against Russia.

All eyes will be on the Wales and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, who earned his second Champions League winners medal last weekend after guiding his side to a penalty win over Atletico in the Champions League final.
