Wales Boss Chris Coleman Praises Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp Despite Confusion Over Training Methods

After an impressive Euro 2016 campaign taking Wales to the semi-finals, Chris Coleman has spoken to “?Sky Sports to offer his praise to the work being carried out by Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff at Liverpool following a strong start to the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.
“?
“?Having watched the Reds see off Welsh side Swansea in Francesco Guidolin’s last game in charge of the Swans, the national team boss suggested the pace and speed of Liverpool’s attack to be breathtaking.

He said: “?”They had better movement in front of the ball, getting Coutinho on it more, playing give-and-gos and one-twos. The ball speed was much faster, one and two touch football, and when they get that type of movement it’s hard for any defence to deal with it.
“?

“It looked like it was only a matter of time before they got the breakthrough. They’d hunt together, win it, and then they’re off, four, five, six of them. They’re quick and good with the ball, and that’s a recipe for disaster for any defence.”

“?
“?Despite the fluidity of the Liverpool attack, Coleman has questioned the training undergone by Klopp’s staff in between such high-intensity games.
“?

“I’d like to see what he does in training, because if you play like that, at breakneck pace every game, two times a week, you’re doing next to nothing in training.

“The more you play like this the fitter you get. When he first come to the club, I don’t know if you remember how many hamstring injuries they had, because of the work rate going up. The fitness levels go up if you play like this, with the ground they’ve covered.”?

“?
“?However, one could argue that the high-intensity style of play is balanced by the one-week rest in between fixtures as a result of the Reds’ lack of European competition this season.
“?
“?Additionally, the Merseysiders have a very large squad to choose from, as the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Emre Can and Alberto Moreno are unable to get into an already strong starting XI, meaning that a number of options remain for Klopp throughout the duration of the season.
