Coach of Nigeria U-17, Nduka Ugbade is full of confidence ahead of his team’s opening game against the Black Starlets of Ghana at the Cape Coast stadium, Nigeria Soccernet can report.
In his interview with Abbeylivenetwork, Nduka Ugbade said his side cannot afford to disappoint Nigerians.
“I am happy with the squad that we have been able to come up with, and I can say confidently that we are going to Ghana to do the nation proud,” he said.
“Our primary objective is to earn a ticket to the Africa Cup of Nations, and then we go full throttle for the trophy,” he added
In his conclusion, Ugbade said: “Nigeria have a pedigree in U17 football and we cannot afford to disappoint.”
To be at the Africa U17 Cup of Nations billed for Algeria early next year, Nigeria must finished among the top two as only the two finalist from the tournament in Cape Coast will represent the WAFU B zone.
And to be at the FIFA U17 World Cup finals in Peru, Ugbade’s side must finish among the final four at the Cup of Nations.
