“?Kenyan international Victor Wanyama has expressed his joy ahead of his proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur when speaking to “?Soka25east.com.

The tough-tackling midfielder has been the subject of numerous transfer rumours throughout his time in the Premier League and it would appear that it is Tottenham who have won the race for Wanyama’s signature. The North London club had to fend off the lure of Premier League champions Leicester City in order to bring the Kenyan to White Hart Lane.

The move, which Soka25east.com report will be completed on Monday will reunite Wanyama with his former Southampton boss, Mauricio Pochettino who spent a season and a half at St. Mary’s.

Speaking to Soka25east.com on a visit to a Prison in Kenya on Friday, a visibly excited Wanyama gave his thoughts on the move. “It’s always the dream of any footballer to play at the very top level like the Champions League” explained the Kenyan when entertaining the thought of playing in Europe’s elite competition.

Whilst the midfielder is excited about the prospect of Champions League football, Wanyama is sad to be leaving Southampton, stating that he is leaving a club whose tradition he understood. The Kenyan paid special tribute to the “awesome” Southampton fans who “always showed him love” hoping that they will “fully understand his decision”.

Wanyama made his Premier League debut for Southampton in 2013 following his £12.5m transfer from Celtic and in doing so, became the first Kenyan to play in the Premier League. The Kenyan has since made 83 appearances for the South-Coast club scoring four goals in the process.
