The 2022 Value Jet pre season cup produced yet another stunning results on Tuesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
Ottasolo who recently relegated from Nigeria second tier league, the NNL to the NLO stunned Rivers United with a comeback in the late kickoff match played at the main bowl of the Remo Stars stadium Ikenne.
Rivers United took the lead in the 8th minute of the game through Dennis Ndasi who headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner.
It looked like it was going to be a long night for Ottasolo but the scoreline remained the same going into the break.
In the 74th minute, Ifeanyi Ogba drives trough Rivers United defense and slams home a wonderful strike to restore parity for Ottasolo.
With the clock at the 90th minute, Substitute, Shile Afobaje stole the show for Ottasolo FC as he chipped the ball over Rivers United goalie Seidu to make it 2-1.
Rivers United unimpressive form in the pre season continued with yet another poor outing but for Ottasolo it was a result they’ll be proud of for so long.
Meanwhile, Vandrezzer FC booked a semifinal spot after defeating host Remo Stars 2-0 in the afternoon kickoff.
It was the second victory against NPFL side for coach Yemi having defeated Shooting Stars earlier in the tournament.
An own goal in the first half by Monsuru Bashiru and a second half stunner by Olalekan Abdulsalam handed Vandrezzer the deserved victory.
The early Tuesday kickoffs produced mouthwatering results as well with another NNL club, Ijebu United overturning a 2 goal deficit to beat CAF Champions League campaigner Plateau United 3-2.
Plateau United raced to a 2-goal lead under 14 minutes, the first coming just 70 seconds into the game.
Ijebu United reduced the deficit in the 41st minute and a minute later got the leveller.
With 14 minutes left in the regulation time, Ijebu United completed the comeback through the boot of Ogunleye Kazeem.
Also in another game played simultaneously at the time, CAF Confederation Cup campaigner Kwara United were held to a 1 all draw by NLO side, Smart City FC.
Both team scored from the penalty spot in the first half as the second half produced no goal.
The Value Jet Cup is a pre season tournament in its first year aimed towards preparing teams ahead of the new season and this first edition have all the CAF interclub competition campaigner present, and of them all so far, only Remo Stars have been impressive with others performing below par.
