Value Jet Cup: Ijebu United outshine Shooting Stars as Kwara, Rivers share spoils

Shooting Stars abysmal start to the 2022 Value Jet Cup continued on Saturday afternoon as they were outclassed by Nigeria National League Ijebu United, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Oluyole Warriors were a shadow of themselves against Ijebu United who could’ve scored up to 5 goals but ended up hitting the back of the net just once.

From the kickoff, Ijebu United dominated proceedings and dictated the pace of the game but not been clinical enough in front of goals left the fans with nothing to cheer of as the first 45 minutes ended in a stalemate.

The second resumed with the NNL side picking themselves up right from where they left off in the guy half and eventually got rewarded for their hard fight with a mouth watering goal.

With a just a goal separating both sides towards the end of the game, the Gbenga Ogunbote led side pushed for an equaliser but the solid defensive line of Ijebu United repelled them.

It ended one nil in favour of Ijebu United who have now revived their chances of qualifying from group A after falling to a 2-1 defeat in the hands of Remo Stars on the opening day of the tournament.

In the first feature of the day, Gateway United defeated Ottasolo FC by a lone goal.

Meanwhile, the late kickoff game between two of Nigeria’s CAF interclub competition campaigners, Kwara and Rivers United ended in a stalemate.
