Ahead of the UEFA Women’s champion league semi finals first leg, Chelsea Women’s head coach Emma Hayes has perfected last minute training session with her players putting them through their paces.
The highly respected English football tactician invited a few outstanding academy stars to train with the Chelsea women first team at Cobham on Friday afternoon.
Nigeria Super Falcons-eligible midfielder, Ashanti Akpan was among the invitees who was spotted training with the first team players,
The 17 years Akpan was born in Poland to a Nigerian father and thus, eligible to play for Nigeria.
The midfielder is eligible to play for three countries, Poland her place of birth, Nigeria through her father,and England where she has been capped at the under 16 level.
She has been registered on the player’s list B of Chelsea having played for the Londoners for an uninterrupted period of two years since her fifteenth birthday.
She has received one call-up for a Champions League match this season, against Real Madrid in a group stage game back in November.
Ashanti Akpan made her debut for Chelsea women’s football club after playing for 25 minutes as the Blues defeated Reading Women 3-1 in FA Cup game.
If she’s involved in tomorrow game, Akpan will wear the number 36 at the back of her Jersey.
