“?Bayern Munich youngster Julian Green has spoken of his eagerness to gather game time this season at the German club.
Green, 21, had been tipped for bigger things after making a cameo appearance for Bayern in the Champions League during the 2013-14 season, and then went on to play and score for the United States at the 2014 World Cup.
He has been linked with loan moves away from the Allianz Arena, but wants to play for the first-team at Bayern instead of moving on loan away from the Bundesliga giants. He spent the 2014-15 season loan at Hamburg, but struggled, making only five Bundesliga appearances, and since then he has mainly figured for Bayern Munich II, Bayern’s reserve team.
“It’s very important, I’ve played here since I was 14 years old, so Bayern has always been my club,”“? Green told Goal.
“I grew up near Munich, so I was a big fan when I was a child. Bayern was always my club, so it’s very important for me to make it here.
“I know it’s hard, but I also know that it’s not impossible.”?
Youngsters like Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich frequently appeared for Bayern under Pep Guardiola, but Green wasn’t seen as someone who was ready to make the step up. The American will be hoping for more game time under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.
“The most important thing is to play. Right now I don’t think about that, I think about now, about Bayern. If I do my thing here, I’m sure I can be back soon with the national team, and that’s my goal also.”?
Ancelotti has spoken of how he’s been impressed with what he’s seen from Green, with more opportunities being given out during pre-season with many of Bayern’s stars still recovering from their duties with their international teams.
“I think he’s doing really good this season. He played the game that we played, did well, scored a goal in the first match, worked really hard in all the games and we are going to see what happens with him,” Ancelotti said.
“He’s with us, and he has to continue to work hard to improve and I think that he will be important for us in the season.”?
Green is also hoping he can learn under his new manager, given that the Italian has worked with some Europe’s finest players during his managerial career.
“I think I can learn very much. He has a lot of experience. He worked with top players, top teams, so I can learn every day from him.
“He’s a really good coach, he’s a really nice guy as a person. He’s a perfect coach to me.”?
