Zaidu Sanusi’s Porto only needed 6 minutes to open the scoring when Galeno hit the back of the net against German opposition Bayer Leverkusen.
A brace from the penalty spot from Mehdi Taremi in the 53rd and 64th minute secured the points at stake for Porto at the Bay Arena.
The win moves them two points ahead of Atletico Madrid and in second place in group B behind Onyeka’s Club Brugge.
Meanwhile, in left back for the visitors, Zaidu Sanusi held forth for the entire game.
The 23 year-old Nigerian, who recently signed a contract extension, had a quiet game.
Sanusi got 47 touches of the ball, mostly inside his own half and took on more defensive duties against the German side.
On the night the LB completed 39 passes, 2 tackles, 2 Dribbles, 1 interception, 1 clearance and he also lost possession twice.
Porto will return to UCL action on October 26, in the fifth round of group stage matches when they travel away to the Jan Breydel Stadium to face leaders, Club Brugge.
