Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has reiterated that the team’s primary objective is to make Nigeria proud as they prepare for a crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, writes Nigeriasoccernet.com.
Speaking during a press conference at Amahoro Stadium, the Al-Khalood center-back acknowledged the pressure and expectations that come with representing Nigeria but assured fans that the team remains focused.
“Playing for a big football nation like Nigeria comes with pressure and criticism—it’s part of the game,” Ekong stated.
“I’ve had discussions with the team, and we see the pressure as a privilege. Our focus is to make the fans proud.”
Nigeria is currently fifth in the group with three points, and a victory against table-toppers Rwanda (7 points) is crucial to keeping their World Cup qualification hopes alive.
