Tottenham Hotspur Interested in Bayern Munich Midfielder Sebastian Rode

“?Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Rode, reports from Germany are suggesting.

 

“?Spurs have expressed interest in the German before, attempting to sign the midfielder last summer, however then Bayern manager Pep Guardiola blocked any potential move for Rode as reports suggested that Guardiola was a big fan of Rode’s talents. Now that the Spaniard is no longer at the club, Rode looks to be on his way out.

Die Welt in Germany reported that Rode has expressed his desire to leave the German champions this summer in pursuit of first team football after his opportunities at the Allianz Arena were limited.

 

Rode joined Bayern from fellow German side Eintracht Frankfurt in 2014, and has made just 38 appearances over the last two seasons with the German giants, scoring three goals. 15 of those appearances came last season.

The report also suggests that Borussia Dortmund are the favourites to sign the midfielder, with Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach also interested. Thomas Tuchel’s side are currently looking to strengthen their squad again in the hopes of pushing Bayern all the way in the Bundesliga title race, as well as to strengthen for their return to the Champions League.

 

Mauricio Pochettino is currently looking to strengthen his squad in time for next season where Spurs could be mounting another assault at the Premier League title after losing out to Leicester City last season. Also on the Argentine’s mind will be the club’s first Champions League excursion since the 2010-11 season, where they reached the quarter-final stage, only to be convincingly beaten by Real Madrid.
