Timothy Chandler could feature when Bayern Munich visit Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

U.S. international Timothy Chandler has resumed team training at Eintracht Frankfurt and could make a return against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich at the weekend.

Chandler, 27, required surgery in late October after suffering a lateral meniscus tear during Frankfurt’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund.

Until that day, Chandler had played every minute of Frankfurt’s Bundesliga campaign this season, usually taking to the field as a wing back.

On Tuesday, he resumed team training and, according to Bild, has been given the all-clear by the club’s team doctors to also return to the matchday squad at the weekend for the visit of Bayern.

“I’ve had a similar surgery to my other knee,” Chandler told Bild. “It also quickly healed. I am no longer in pain.”

However, Chandler will have to fight for his place on the team after youngster Marius Wolf, 22, put in several impressive performances in the American’s absence.

Going into the last three games of the Hinrunde — the first half of the Bundesliga season — Frankfurt are positioned near the end of a group of eight teams trying to keep up with runaway leaders Bayern Munich.

Frankfurt have earned 22 points — only two fewer than Borussia Monchengladbach, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot. However, they have picked up 15 of those points away from home, recording only two wins in six home games.
