Thigh Injury Rules Tomas Rosicky Out of Euro 16 After Czech Republic Draw vs Croatia

“?Czech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky has been ruled out of the rest of Euro 16 due to a thigh injury suffered during his country’s draw with Croatia on Friday.

Team doctor Petr Krejci said earlier on Saturday that the 35-year-old would undergo a scan later in the day to determine the severity of the injury.

Krejci also said that the tournament would be over for Rosicky if it was revealed that there was a tear in the muscle, but that they would do everything in their power to get him ready for their match against Turkey if it wasn’t torn.

The Euro 16 official Twitter account has now announced that the midfielder won’t be taking any further part in the tournament, posting: “Czech Republic doctors confirm that captain Tomas Rosicky will miss the rest of #EURO2016 with a thigh injury.”

The departing Arsenal player is expected to be out for three to six weeks as he recovers from the injury.

He saw just six minutes of action during the 2015/16 season, having spent the last 10 years at the club. His only appearance came in an FA Cup clash against Burnley, but he was taken off mere minutes after coming on due to – you guessed it – a thigh injury.

Rosicky said just last month that he would not allow injuries to dictate the way his career ends, and promised to keep on playing after he leaves Arsenal.

The Czechs have only managed one point in Group D, but a win against Turkey on Tuesday could possibly see them through to the knockout round of the competition.
