Ghana coach Avram Grant is developing a new formation for the Black Stars and has tried it in two pre-Africa Cup of Nations friendlies.

The former Chelsea manager prefers the 3-5-2 formation which is regarded as an attack-minded strategy and also best for his team when they have their back against the wall.

On Thursday when his side played Dutch Eredivisie side SC Camburr in a warm-up game, Grant fielded a strong line-up which had goalkeeper Razak Brimah between the sticks.

His three defenders were Jonathan Mensah, John Boye and Awal Mohammed.

Grant’s five midfielders include Harrison Afful, Baba Rahman, Daniel Amartey, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Andre Ayew.

Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew led the attack as the Black Stars came from a goal down to draw 1-1 in Spain.

The Black Stars beat Portuguese second-tier side Olhanense 3-0 in their first friendly played in Portugal on Wednesday.

Ghana will play Group C opponents Senegal, Algeria and South Africa at the tournament.

  1. Looks good.My only problem is with Badu.Though he can score at times he is not tactically dusciplined and may stray into other positions. Thus shows us all how bad Wakaso has become because if he had his 2012 form he would have owned that position big time.

  2. Same wif me Redd. It pisses me to see badu in that position cause he plays shit

  3. James Asamoah

AmaRey and Badu spot should be taken over by Acquah and Acheampong
