Skipper Ubido Eyes NNL away points

Heartland captain and defensive midfielder Julius Ubido has explained on the need for his side to continue to gain vital points on the road in the ongoing Nigerian second tier league.

The Naze Millionaires are guests of traditional side Bendel Insurance in Wednesday’s Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday 16 clash at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Ubido said his side know that the ultimate goal is a return to the top-flight and the surest path to accomplishing the task is by performing well in their matches.

“I’m quite positive that the outcome of the clash at Bendel Insurance will go down well with our aspiration.

“We are going there to do our very best to ensure we contest successfully the whole three points at stake in the clash.

“After the eight-match unbeaten record was punctured at AS Racine we have been successful in our last two matches against Abia Comets in Umuahia and Bayelsa United on the home front, so we intend to extend the good performance at Insurance.

“Of course, we know that such great performances are the boost we need to fasten our return to the top-flight.

“Our opponents and hosts, Insurance are good and traditional side in the land, they have competed at the topmost and equally gone down and doing their very best to ensure a comeback.

“We (Heartland) share same experience so the contest is evenly matched. We are, however, hopeful to come out of the encounter unscathed,” said the former Lobi Stars utility star to supersport.com.

The Owerri outfit are at the summit of the 18-team NNL southern conference on 32 points, three ahead of their closest challengers, Crown FC.
