SCANDAL: Ex-Kotoko star Ochaya faces arrest in Uganda over two passports

Coache Micho and his assistant Frank Anyau said that they have resolved to ignore Ochaya, who is one of the experienced names among the players after they discovered that the winger is carrying two valid Ugandan passports. “Ochaya is a good player with some experience that other players can learn from but we fear to use him because he carries two different passports. One passport has the names Joseph Ochaya while the other has Ochaya Joseph with another name. That can easily bring us problems at CAF,” Micho said. Uganda is preparing to take on Mozambique in the All Africa Games qualifier away on Saturday. By press time, Micho was due to unveil the squad majority of whom are made of fresh names and argued that he has ignored a few established names who still qualify for the U-23 to avoid similar scandals like it is for Ochaya. However, FUFA vice president in charge of technical affairs Ahmed Juma insisted that Ochaya still has a chance to feature for the U-23 without any issues if he can accept and surrender one of the passports as advised by the immigration problem.
Ochaya could be arrested in his native Uganda for holding tow passports

Ex-Kotoko star Joseph Ochaya could face arrest in his home country of Uganda after information emerged on Tuesday that he holds two different passports.

In Uganda it is illegal to hold two different passports.

Frank Anyau, the U-23 assistant coach revealed that they decided to drop the player ahead of the 2015 All Africa Games qualifier against Mozambique after discovering that he holds two valid passports with different names.

“Ochaya is a good player, but we fear to use him against Mozambique on Saturday because he has two different passports and this could cause us problems,” stated Anyau.

Pamela Ankunda, the spokesperson for the Uganda Immigration Department said they will carry out investigations about the matter and reveal the findings at a later date. “We shall let you know after the investigations are complete,” said Ankunda.

Last week the same player received an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) after Fifa issued a statement instructing Ghana’s Asante Kotoko to release Ochaya. The player who absconded last year and returned to Uganda had complained that the club was not fulfilling some of it’s contractual obligations.

Ochaya has now joined his former Club KCCA FC and featured for them in the 1-0 win against Entebbe FC on Tuesday in a Uganda Premier League (UPL) tie.
