“?Manchester United officials believe that Ryan Giggs is ready to quit the club in search of his own managerial role, according to a report in the “?Mirror.
The Welshman was highly tipped to become United manager after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, and took up the reins at the club following David Moyes’ sacking, but has seen both Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho land the top job over him.
He worked as Van Gaal’s assistant coach for two years, but it is believed that he would have to accept a lesser role under Mourinho, who is followed by a tight-knit group of staff wherever he goes.
The club’s officials expect an announcement from Giggs in the next few days, and persons close to him claim that he might even take a break from the game and pursue his own career as a head coach next year.
Giggs is said to be understandably unhappy with the situation, but was never guaranteed the manager’s job by the club when Sir Alex left. With Mourinho being made available after being fired by Chelsea last December, it was always going to be tough for the 42-year-old to be considered.
Some of his Class of ’92 friends have advised him to leave United in order to further his career, but his close comrades believe that he will be taking some time out to wait for the right opening.
There’s no doubt, however, that Giggs will be appointed United manager in the future if he fulfils his expectation at another club.
