Rivers Angels head Coach, Ogbonda Whyte has assured fans of the club that the former champions are in Yenegao to win the trophy, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Whyte expresses happiness over qualifying forthe Nigeria Women’s Football League Super 6 in Yenegao with winning the title last won by the Porthacourt side in 2021 at the back of his mind.
“I am very happy that Rivers Angels have qualified for the Super Six, and I believe every other coach will share the same sentiment,” Whyte expressed to www.thenwfl.com. “This is where we really want to be at the end of the regular season.”
He opines that the tournament will not be a walk in the pack for any team “as all qualified teams are champions in the making.”
“This is a tournament, and a league for that matter,” Whyte emphasized. “I don’t think any team will have an advantage over the others, as all the qualified teams are champions in the making. Every team has a shot at the trophy.”
Whyte he qualified Confluence Queens in the last edition of the Super 6 assures the fans of the multiple winners of the league that his team is in Bayelsa for the title.
“Rivers Angels are at the Super Six to win the title and represent Nigeria well on the continent in the CAF Women’s Champions League.”
Rivers Angels will have to beat the five other teams in Bayelsa Queens, Confluence Queens, Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Heartland Queens to achieve this goal when the Super 6 starts on Saturday.
If this is achieved, Rivers Angels will qualify for the West African Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, with the opportunity to advance to the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
