The draw for the football event of the Rio Olympics will be staged in Brazil Thursday with Nigeria in Pot 2, which could see them draw the likes of Brazil (Pot 1), Portugal (Pot 3) and Colombia (Pot 4).
The draw will begin at 2.30 pm tomorrow at the famous Maracana Stadium.
Nigeria are the reigning U23 African champions and based on their exploits at the Olympics where they emerged champions in Atlanta ’96 and were beaten in the gold medal final by Argentina at Beijing 2008, they have been seeded in Pot 2.
They are fifth highest rated team at this tournament based on their performances at the last five tournaments added to the fact that they will be in Rio as African champions.
Africa’s other representatives are in lower pots – South Africa Pot 3 and Algeria 4.
