Report: Liverpool willing to grant Taiwo Awoniyi a loan move

According to a report from Own Goal Nigeria, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has identified his preferred next move for young striker Taiwo Awoniyi, and that is to send the 19-year-old out on loan to another English club.

Awoniyi signed for Liverpool from the Imperial Academy back in 2015 for £400,000 (as reported by Sky Sports) and he was almost immediately sent out on loan to German side FSV Frankfurt as he awaited a work permit.

After scoring one goal and providing one assist in 14 appearances for the German second division side, he then headed out for a temporary spell to Holland, scoring three goals and providing one assist in 22 appearances for NEC Nijmegen.
He fared considerably better for their under-21s, netting five goals in only six appearances, but his form to date shows there is still a long way to go before he is a viable first-team option for Liverpool.
Now Own Goal Nigeria claims Liverpool are hoping that while issues over a work permit remain, they can use the suggestion that he is a special talent – along with his spells in the Netherlands and Germany – to allow him to play in England next season.

Only time will tell if Klopp gets his wish, but he will only see if Awoniyi has what it takes to make it in English football if he is granted the chance to play here regularly, albeit at a lower level.

Should he get his wish, choosing the right club will be vital, with chances at so many clubs at a premium for teenage strikers.
