After a 1-0 loss to Nasarawa Amazons, the Sky Blue Queens got a 2-0 win over struggling Confluence Queens to reignite the ambition for that top of group A at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
Kafayat Bashiru opened the score for the hosts after 17 minutes of play before she doubled her quota with a consolidated strike in 77 minutes.
Another group A match saw Edo Queens maintain their unbeaten run and their position at the top with a 1-2 win over Abia Angels in Umuahia.
Goodness Osigwe opened the score on 35 minutes from the spot before Esther Moses extended the lead on 61 minutes. Mary Lucky halved the deficit 11 minutes later, but the reigning champions remained on course for the win at the end.
Group B sustained its intriguing nature with the two former champions, Bayelsa Queens and Rivers Angels going neck to neck at the group’s zenith.
After Rivers Angels 0-1 win in Uyo against Ibom Angels in the early kick courtesy of Mary Moses’ 62 strike, Bayelsa Queens also defeated former champions, Delta Queens in Asaba through a 90-minute goal by Chinwe Akabike.
