“?Former Real Madrid full-back Roberto Carlos has claimed the club are interested in signing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho’s inspired form so far this season has seen him linked with the likes of Barcelona and PSG, and Carlos has revealed Real are looking to make the former Inter Milan attacking midfielder their latest star at the Bernabeu.
“Zinedine Zidane has been a long admirer of Coutinho, and has told club president Florentino Perez that the Brazilian is top of his wishlist.”? Carlos told “?Diario Madridista.
“Because I’m Brazilian, I’m very happy that Coutinho is doing well.
“I don’t how long he has on his Liverpool contract, but Real Madrid want to sign the very best players.”? he finished.
Coutinho had been tipped to join Barcelona due to his long standing friendship with compatriot Neymar, while PSG will be looking to make a statement of intent in the coming transfer windows, what with former star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving the club in the summer to join Manchester United.
Real certainly have a history of getting who they want, and are not impartial to paying big fees in order to land their targets.
Only relatively recently have they splashed out hefty amounts for Mateo Kovacic and Danilo, but their largest fees forked in recent times have been the two transfers for Gareth Bale from Tottenham in 2013 and James Rodriguez from Monaco in 2014.
Coutinho has contributed five goals and five assists in Liverpool’s opening 11 Premier League games, helping the Reds into first place in the competition before the international break.
