Udinsse left wing-back of Nigerian descent, Destiny Iyenoma Udogie has revealed that he’s not scared of playing his trade in the English Premier League.
Udogie signed for Premier League outfit, Tottenham Hotspur, this summer but was loaned back to Italian club Udinese as Ryan Sessegon and Ivan Perisic are currently on wing back duty for Spurs.
Signed for an initial fee of £15m, which could rise due to addons, the Italy U-21 International believes the few months he will have at Udine will help him when he finally makes the switch to North London.
He told La Repubblica: “Serie A helps me to grow. The months I remain here on loan in Udine will be important to improve myself further.”
“With my head now I’m here. To say, I haven’t heard from (Spurs manager Antonio) Conte yet. The Premier however does not scare me.”
“The game is fantastic and I have always spoken English at home with my parents born in Nigeria.”
Udogie made his debut for the Gli Azzurrini in September last year, in a European Championship qualifying fixture against Luxembourg.
Udogie made 35 Serie A appearances, scoring five goals, while on loan at Udinese from Hellas Verona last season.
Udinese were obliged to make Udogie’s move permanent upon the completion of his loan this summer, and he joined the club on July 15.
He has also netted twice this season in the Italian top-flight.
