Arsenal maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League 2 season after a goalless draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby at Hotspur Way in Enfield on Saturday.
Despite the unavailability of Ovie Ejeheri, Miguel Azeez, Tim Akinola, Mazeed Ogungbo and Ryan Alebiosu who have all been loaned out, Mehmet Ali’s side have made a promising start to the campaign, winning four games and drawing on three occasions, before facing off with Tottenham Hotspur.
Folarin Balogun and Arthur Okonkwo who are both age-eligible for the U21s opted to join Reims and Crewe Alexandra on loan respectively rather than playing youth team football this season.
The Gunners handed starts to three Nigerian-origin players in defender Zach Awe, winger Joel ideho and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji who led the line.
Butler-Oyedeji had a chance to open the scoring midway through the first half but fired wide after receiving a through ball.
Tottenham thought they had taken the lead in the 70th minute but the goal was disallowed for offside in the build up.
Butler-Oyedeji and Ideho were replaced in the 63rd and 73rd minute respectively.
