Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick has denied all claims of CAF standing in his way of nomination to FIFA Council seat.
Reports broke out in Nigeria on Wednesday that Amaju Pinnick was denied nomination by CAF for his bid for a FIFA Council seat.
Following Pinnick’s assurance that a country as big as Nigeria should have global presence, many thought the NFF president would’ve applied to be nominated, something which he denied.
“Were CAF standing in my way for a FIFA council seat? Not at all, didn’t apply,” Pinnick told KingFut.
“Just unbelievable how people can fabricate stories, it’s not good,” Pinnick continued.
Rumors had spread that Pinnick’s invitation of Infantino and 17 other African football federation presidents in July was only a cover-up to seek for support for his bid to contest for one of the FIFA seats, but the president denied inviting the new FIFA president without CAF’s blessings.
“A theatre of lies, deceit and concocted stories,” Pinnick expressed.
“Did I apply to be nominated? I did not pick any form.
Pinnick then revealed that he intends to take legal action against those who claim otherwise.
“My lawyers are digging up the origin,” he concluded.
It is worth noting that the elections into the FIFA Council are slated for September 29 with seven possible candidates already announced by CAF: Almamy Kabele Camara (Guinea), Suketu Patel (Sychelles), Kwesi Nyantakyi (Ghana), Ahmad (Madagascar), Augustin Senghor (Senegal, Hamidou Djibrilla (Niger) and Chabur Goc Alei (South Sudan)
