Pinnick: NFF’s Debt profile worrisome

The Nigeria Football federation (NFF) has expressed worries over the federations’ huge indebtedness to its clients in the quest to ensure that the Super Eagles qualifies for both the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2019 Africa Nations Cup, (AFCON) in Cameroon.

The NFF noted that it has been indebted to hotels, airlines, contractors and others who have continued to render services to it on credit, stressing that its major task right now is to reduce the huge debt.

NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, said in an interview that the federation will cut down so many of its internal expenditure to channel such fund to the payment of debts, adding that his administration is also working hard to woe more investors to Nigerian football, especially with his recent victory at the CAF executive seat election.

“What we are trying to do right now is to reduce our huge debts; we are hugely indebted to hotels, coaches, and airlines. So we are trying to reduce our debt profile. In doing this, we are trying also to reduce our internal expenses by cutting down the number of people we send to championships. For the beach soccer, it is only the players, technical crew and chef d masseur that will be going because we are trying to reduce our cost

“We are having series of meetings with companies that are truly coming to take charge of the salaries of all our coaches in the national teams. I can assure you that things are looking very better with this victory; companies are coming in to partner with us now.

“My victory at CAF has liberated Nigerian football, immediately after my victory, a company that was running away from us called me and said they would want to come back to the negotiation table with us, we are now a big brand.

“Only today again, another major blue chip company called us asking us to outline the major roles we will want them to play, you can also see Dangote’s congratulatory letter, from there, anything can happen, especially in the areas of coaches’ salaries”. Pinnick assured.
