Asamaoh Gyan has been given a hero’s welcome by his Al Ain teammates for Ghana’s impressive showcase at the just ended 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ghana captain and his international teammates were closing to winning the tournament in Equatorial Guinea but lost narrowly 9-8 on penalties to Ivory Coast.
Gyan recovered from a mild bout with malaria to play in the second Group match against Algeria where his last gasp goal revived Ghana’s bid after an opening day 2-1 defeat to Senegal.
He was playing in his fifth Nations Cup appearance.
