Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has today apologised to manager Pep Guardiola and the club for criticisms made by agent Dimitri Seluk in the past, which led to the Ivorian being isolated from playing in the first-team in recent months.
“?
And speaking in his press conference today, Guardiola himself addressed the situation before the home fixture against Middlesbrough on Saturday. He had previously stated that the player would no longer be an option for the first-team without saying sorry first.
“?
“?This comes after the four-time African Player of the Year issued a “?statement, expressing his apology for the events which saw Seluk claim Toure to have been “humiliated” by the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss after being left out of City’s Champions League squad.

Guardiola would go on to say: “I spoke with Yaya today, so of course it’s a private conversation.

“I know what happened and of course it’s so important for Manchester City and that’s the most important thing. And for Yaya who I appreciate and know him from a long time ago.
“?

“Yaya has been in all our meetings and all our training sessions, you know the situation, nothing changed. I spoke with him, it’s good, that’s all. We now focus on Middlesbrough.”

“?As a result, Toure is likely to be considered for the first team, but could struggle to play ahead of the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho, Fernando and Aleix Garcia, who have done well in the Ivorian’s absence. Toure is unlikely to be in the squad against Middlesbrough though.
“?
“?Toure’s only appearance this season was the 1-0 win against Steaua Bucharest on August 16 in the Champions League qualifying round.
“?
“?The midfielder said today: “I wish to apologise – on behalf of myself and those who represent me – to the management team and all those working at the club for the misunderstandings from the past.
“?

“Those statements do not represent my views on the club or the people who work there. I have nothing but respect for Manchester City and only wish the best for the football club.”
