Pep Guardiola is set to go through a whirlwind of emotions as he prepares to tackle Bayern Munich in his first game as Manchester City boss, “?Goal reports.
The Spaniard revealed he would be leaving the Allianz Arena at the end of the season to link up with the Sky Blues, but he wouldn’t have been expecting to make such a swift return.
Bayern will entertain City on July 20th, just a few days before the International Champions Cup.
The match will also mark Carlo Ancelotti’s home debut in charge of the Bavarians so the stage is set for a momentous occasion.
Speaking about the hotly-anticipated friendly, City’s chief executive Ferran Soriano said “Playing Bayern Munich is always a great occasion and this match has the added excitement of our new head coach Pep Guardiola returning to play with Manchester City against his former club.
“Bayern will provide fitting opposition as our team continues its pre-season preparations and we will be able to connect with our fans in Germany.”
During his spell in charge of the German giants, Guardiola won three consecutive Bundesliga titles and he helped them lift the DFB-Pokal twice.
The Citizens’ following game is scheduled to be against Manchester United and fans will be left giddy at the tantalising prospect of Guardiola renewing his intense rivalry with Jose Mourinho.
