“?Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that his team’s questionable performances of late have provided Premier League rivals with the opportunity to capitalise, after his side could only draw with strugglers Middlesbrough at the Etihad stadium on Saturday.

City drew 1-1, with Boro’s Marten de Roon netting an equaliser into added time after Sergio Augero had given the Citizens a deserved lead. And despite dominating the game, Pep and his charges were unable to achieve the three points that would have taken them back to the top of the league.

Guardiola said, as quoted by the “?BBC, that: “We did absolutely everything to win the game, controlled the game and in the last minute we concede a goal.

“It is a pity. We did a lot of good things and tried to win the game.”?

The result invariably gives City’s league rivals the opportunity to leapfrog them and pile on added pressure on the Spaniard to achieve results. He added:

“When you miss you have to accept that, but the league is still long.

“It is a miss because we have dropped six points in the last three home games but we are still there. We have to move forward.”?

After City’s memorable victory over Barcelona in the Champions League, Guardiola does not believe that the effects of their colossal effort against the La Liga champions had any sort of impact, explaining:

“Not really, we started amazing and played really good in the first half.

“We have to close the game with second or third goal and we couldn’t do that. We created six or seven chances and didn’t score.”?
