From being a king in Belgium to finding it difficult to get a playing time in relegation threatened Southampton, Paul Onuachu struggles in the Premier League continues as he was an unused sub as City defeated Southampton 4-1 on Saturday to further condemn them at the bottom of the log, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
Joined the Saints from KRC Genk in January 2023, Onuachu’s search for first league goal will wait for yet another weekend as Rubén Sellés Salvador kept him away from the starting lineup yet again and also failed to introduce him into the game.
20th on the log, 4 points away from 17th placed Everton, Southampton started the game well, caging the City attack for a larger part of the first half but fell behind on the 45th minutes as Haaland opened the scoring for the visitors with his 29th goal of the campaign.
The second half was a different one entirely as Southampton conceded two before the hours mark to fall 3 goals behind and although Mara pulled one back, Alvarez restored City’s 3 goals lead as he converted from the spot 3 minutes after Southampton’s consolation goal.
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu will have to wait for another week as his goal drought extends to four months in England but will hope it ends when they host Crystal Palace on Saturday at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.
