“?Palermo have slapped a £23m price-tag on their midfield maestro Franco Vazquez as Tottenham Hotspur line up a swoop, “?Team Talk report.

Vazquez was a key figure in Palermo’s escape from relegation this season, chipping in with eight goals and seven assists.

However, the 27-year-old recently confessed he wants a ‘change of scenery’ which has placed Spurs and AC Milan on red alert.

The silky playmaker is keen to stay in Italy, but it will take a massive offer to prize him away from the Rosanero’s clutches.

Speaking to Radio Kiss, Palermo vice-president Guglielmo Miccicche said “Of course he was vital for us. Without him we would have probably been relegated to Serie B.

“Whoever wants him will have to pay €30m (£23.2m), I don’t know if he could play behind the two strikers, but he would be perfect close to Gonzalo Higuain.

“He’s one of the last No.10 left in Italian football and whoever will buy him will make a real deal. Vazquez is a serious person and a true pro.”

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Vazquez as Mauricio Pochettino bids to bolster his squad ahead of a renewed assault on the Premier League title.

White Hart Lane will also host Champions League football next year so the Lilywhites are desperate to draft in players who can lighten the load on the shoulders of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.
