Osimhen crowned Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Player of the Year

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen capped a remarkable year by deservedly being crowned Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Player of the Year on Monday night.

The Napoli striker plundered 26 goals in 32 Serie A appearances last season to propel the Neapolitans towards a first Scudetto since 1990.

“Thank you @GranGalaAIC for the recognition and awards, thank you my family, friends and supporters for ur votes and unending support. GOD is the Greatest” He wrote on X.

The Super Eagles goal poacher became first the African Capocannoniere – the highest goal scorer in the Serie A and led Napoli to their first Serie A title triumph in 33years in the process.

Osimhen joins the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Andrea Pirlo, Cristiano Ronaldo, and last year’s winner Rafael Leao as recipients of the prize.

The award comes a month after he finished 8 in the FIFA World best player awards and his nomination for the best player award in Africa some weeks ago.
