Oro community to become hub of football in West Africa says Kumbi Titiloye

The Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Kumbi Titiloye has revealed that Oro stands a chance of becoming the hub of football in West Africa during the Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh visit to the proposed site of a football house sited at Oro, Kwara State on Friday.
He revealed that some of the current crop of players in the Super Eagles are products of private owned football academies, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Titiloye said, “I was the Administrator of Football College Abuja and I know the importance of the private sector in the football industry. We were able to groom players who have broken into the various national teams in the men’s category.
“I have decided to bring the dream of a football house/academy in Oro, Kwara State in order for us to become a manufacturer of talents. With your visit to this project Honourable Minister of Sports, we are calling on the Government to also support this project”.
“If you look at the current crop of players in the Super Eagles, you will discover that most of them are products of the private sector which I am proud to be one of them. Players like Sadiq Umar and Dennis Bonaventure are part of these projects”.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant (SA) on Grassroots Sports Development to the Minister of Sports, Hon Adeboye Adeyinka revealed that the land where the football academy is situated was donated by the community.
He said, “Oro indigenes contributed land and other resources to the project. The project will have a soccer academy that will not devote itself to soccer only.
“We intend to have facilities to train for other sports peculiar to the North Central. The facility has an agricultural section where athletes can be trained in farming vocations since not all of them can be successful in football”.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh applauded the initiator of the project adding that it will add value to the community.
He said, “the Oro project has piqued my interest and I intend to support projects like this, I am here at the beginning and I will be here at the completion,” he promised.
