The debate on how is the Greatest Footballer of all time rages on as Super Eagles legend, Austin Okocha has lend his voice to the argument.
For the Nigerian ex international it is the late Diego Armando Maradona that ticks the box for him despite the dexterity and achievement of Maradona’s countryman, Lionel Messi.
Okocha, in one of his punditry duties with Super Sport at the ongoing World Cup said prior to Messi breaking the jinx of not scoring in the knock out stages.
“Maradona for me, is the greatest player in history,” Okocha said.
“Messi can try and match his record. But Messi is Messi. And his impact on the national team has been immense.”
However, Messi scored his ninth World Cup goal which took him ahead of Maradona and one behind all-time leader Gabriel Batistuta in Argentina’s 2-0 win over Australia in the round of 16.
