Official – Alhassan ‘Mu’azam’ Ibrahim Joins Portuguese Side Maritimo

21 year old former Akwa United forward Alhassan Ibrahim has joined Portuguese top division side Maritimo on a permanent transfer till the summer of 2021, the club has announced.

Last season Mu’azam as Alhassan Ibrahim is fondly called played on loan in Austria for Austria Wien but a change in the head coach of the team made the club not to take up the option of making his deal permanent.

He was the star of the Nigerian U17 team of 2013 during the early stage of camping but injuries kept him out of the squad that produced the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Isaac Success, Francis Uzoho and co.

Despite his failure to play for the U17 he was among the players who made the step up to the U20s, where he won the African Youth Championship with the squad in Senegal but missed out on a spot in the team for the World Youth Championship

Under the current coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr he has been called up to the senior national team of Nigeria but he is yet to make his debut. However he is a regular for the B team and played in their last friendly game against Europa League winners Atletico Madrid of Spain
