Fans of the Super Eagles could yet see Obafemi Martins in the shirt of the Super Eagles once again, as according to reports gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com, he is one of the names submitted to the new coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

31 year old Martins last played for the Super Eagles of Nigeria on the 17th of November 2015 in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers tie against Swaziland and could be set to feature in it again under Rohr.

Rohr has full knowledge of the forward, who presently plays in China for Shanghai Shenhua during his times at German side Wolfsburg where he spent a season before moving to Russia to join Rubin Kazan.

The former Inter-Milan and Newcastle United forward has scored 8 goals in 15 games for the Chinese side in Joined in February, but according to a source close to Rohr playing in China hasn’t ended his chances of playing for Nigeria.

” When Rohr said Nigeria need all their best available players, it includes Martins and co. What has playing in China done to his chances?, nothing at all, as we have people playing for a national team as competitive as Brazil playing in China” He said.

Widely travelled Martins who has stints in Spain and the MLS has scored 10 goals from 28 games for the senior national team of Nigeria since making his debut in 2004.
