NWFL: Rivers Angels get hard-fought win over Osun Babes

Rivers Angels returned to winning ways after their first match loss to defending champions, Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday.

The 2021 champions edged Osun Babes two goals to one to get their league campaign back on track at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

With a intensed play from the Jewels of Rivers in the early part of the game, a goal came in the 5th minute.

Okwuchukwu placed a short pass to Okpe inside the box and she made no mistake in converting that one from close range to give the home team the lead.

But the lafies from Osun will bot go down without a fight as they pushed for an equaliser.

At the dead of the first phase, Bolaji Olamide’s goal rewarded the effort of Osun Babes as she restored parity  to end the tie at half time one all.

As expected, the second half resumed with a goal tasty Rivers Angels in action to score goal.

The quest for a goal finally came in the 77th minute as forward Aguadze Juanita scored what later became the match winner.

As the league giants held on for their first win of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership campaign.
