NPFL: Rangers international FC to resume training on Sept 4

Rangers International FC of Enugu has delayed the return of its players and coaches to training for the next season by seven days.

Players and coaches are now expected to begin training on September 4, according to the club’s media officer, Norbert Okolie, in a statement released in Enugu.

Okolie said that Ferdinand Ugwuarua, the club’s administrative secretary, clarified the matter following a flurry of meetings with management and technical officials.

Ugwuarua stated that the extension became necessary because the 2021/2022 football season was not concluded as the Aiteo cup was not finalised.

He noted that teams were still in the open transfer market, seeking for prospective quality talents to beef up their squads.

“Management thought it wise to extend the resumption date for our returning players and coaches who have been on holiday since the end of our activities on the pitch.

“So, we are extending the holiday by a week and expect the retained players and the new ones we have contacted to hit Enugu by Sept. 4.

“It is our belief that the coaches will hit the ground running from that date to build a team that will challenge on all fronts in the coming football season,” Ugwuarua said.
