NPFL: And seven years after, Bayelsa United is back

Bayelsa United on Saturday beat Cynosure FC 2-0 to pick the last ticket to the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League season, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The Yenagoa based club got relegated to the lower league in 2015 and had since struggled to return to elite league.

Narrowly missed out qualification last season, Bayelsa United improved on the squad that won the 2021 Aiteo Cup and the experience garnered from playing in the CAF Confederation Cup helped the team achieve their NPFL dream on Saturday.

They become the fourth and final club to book the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League ticket after Bendel Insurance, Doma United and El Kanemi.

Bayelsa United won the NPFL title in 2009.
